Michael Baker International was tasked with the design and production of the construction document set for a Systems Integration and Management Office (SIMO) located within an army base in the United States. The exact location and client for this project cannot be disclosed. Michael Baker’s services included architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, fire protection design, mechanical design, plumbing design, civil design and structural design.

I assisted the discipline lead in the creation of the construction document set for the new 20,450 square foot facility. While the program cannot be disclosed, it is worth noting that the facility was constructed using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). The project was designed per the required Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and met all Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (AT/FP) requirements, including but not limited to blast design for windows and exterior walls. This project also had additional security measures that had to be incorporated in the building design due to the facility’s function.

My responsibilities included the creation of the construction document set including detailing the entire building, design of the front entrance, and coordination with the engineers. All work was done under the supervision of a senior architect.
