Michael Baker International was the designer of record for the renovation of an existing Education Center at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey. Michael Baker’s services included architecture, interior design, fire protection design, mechanical design, plumbing design, and civil design.

The building, constructed in the 1960s, was originally designed and used as an elementary school. McGuire Air Force Base acquired the building in the 1990s and repurposed it into a testing and educational center. Scope of work included the cosmetic remodeling of the interior, the conversion of an existing gym into a WAPS (Weighted Airman Promotion System) testing room, a new parking lot, all new mechanical systems, and the replacement of all windows and doors on the exterior.

I was responsible for producing the construction document set using Revit Architecture 2016, including but not limited to all detailing for the building. Additional responsibilities included surveying the existing building, coordination with the engineering disciplines, acting as the BIM/CAD manager for the project, assembling packages for the submissions, attending on-site client meetings, writing the design analysis, coordinating with the specifications writer, and working with product manufacturers. All work was done under the supervision of a senior architect.

Project was developed to 60% only.
